How Do We Keep Our Immune Systems Strong and Healthy for the Rest of 2020?

 
 

1.Eat Real Food

We often make nutrition so complicated, but it can come down to a simple truth-eat real food. If you cannot pronounce an ingredient in a food or beverage it is best to avoid it.

2. Increase Your Leafy Greens

Most of us are lacking in our daily consumption of cruciferous leafy green vegetables. These glorious greens can improve gut health, strengthen your immune system, and are full of essential vitamins and nutrients. These veggies include kale, spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts, arugula, and more. Aim to have at least five servings a day, preferably at every meal!

3. Stay Hydrated

We often mistake our hunger for thirst, and especially at elevation, we need more water than the average person! Staying hydrated helps your digestive system, skin, flush out unwanted toxins, and absorb needed minerals your body needs to thrive.

4. Incorporate Anti-inflammatory Herbs or Supplements into Your Daily Regime

Try cooking with anti inflammatory herbs like turmeric and ginger. These herbs can help reduce inflammation in your body. I recommend taking a Vitamin D and Zinc supplement to increase immunity.

5. Balance Rest and Exercise

Wellness is a balancing act! Give yourself the daily movement you crave but also do not be afraid to allow yourself to rest. Shoot for at least eight hours of sleep a night and remember there is nothing wrong with taking a nap. Our bodies are constantly in overdrive, working hard to keep us healthy, deal with stress, and navigate our day to day life.
